Total Giving: $13,389,609

The mission of the foundation is to improve the lives of young people 5 to 25 in the United States through research. They support high-quality research that is relevant to policies and practices that affect the lives of young people and that build stronger theory and empirical evidence. Currently, they are funding research that increases understanding of: 1) programs, policies, and practices that reduce inequality in youth outcomes, and 2) strategies to improve the use of research evidence in ways that benefit youth. In addition to Research Grants which are open to researchers at any stage of their careers, the foundation supports promising post-doctoral scholars from diverse disciplines through the William T. Grant Scholars Program. The Youth Service Improvement Grants (YSIG) program gives support to youth-serving organizations in the five boroughs. Finally, the Institutional Challenge Grant encourages research institutions to build long-term research-practice partnerships with public agencies or nonprofit organizations in order to reduce inequality in youth outcomes.
